Zarin & Steinmetz secured a negative declaration under the State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA) from the Piermont Planning Board. The project aims to revitalize a long-vacant and blighted property in the heart of the Village’s downtown area, which has stood as a reminder of the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.
Partner Lee Lefkowitz represented the applicant Sunday Hospitality, known for its portfolio of restaurants, hotels and event spaces across Manhattan and Brooklyn. The proposed redevelopment envisions a distinctive two-level establishment combining a restaurant, event space and marina – strategically positioned along the picturesque waterfront of Piermont.
The project’s progression hinges on securing approvals from various stakeholders, including three village boards. Particularly noteworthy is the necessity for approvals from the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) to commence construction on a pier integral to the project. This pier will serve as a hub for boaters, offering them the convenience of docking or temporarily parking their boats while patronizing the restaurant.
With the Piermont Planning Board’s endorsement secured, the next steps involve seeking approvals from the Piermont Zoning Board of Appeals and ultimately the Board of Trustees. These crucial stages in the approval process underscore the collaborative efforts and strategic planning required to bring such transformative projects to fruition.
The proposed redevelopment not only promises to breathe new life into a vacant property but also underscores Piermont’s commitment to fostering vibrant waterfront experiences for residents and visitors alike. Stay tuned for further updates as the project progresses through its next phases of approval.
