Partner Jody Cross successfully represented Eating Disorder Treatment of New York and Monte Nido & Affiliates through the approval process for a proposed 24/7 residential facility for girls with eating disorders in West Nyack, Town of Clarkstown. Approval was obtained under the Padavan Law, which is aimed at establishing smaller residential group home settings for people with mental health conditions.

The proposed facility, which will be licensed by the New York State Office of Mental Health, will cater to girls ages 11 through 17, offering programs for eating disorders such as anorexia nervosa, bulimia, and binge eating. During the approval process before the Clarkstown Town Board, Cross highlighted the critical need for such facilities, noting that there are 2,700 teens with eating disorders in Rockland County alone, and only 32 beds for adolescents in New York State.

Monte Nido will operate this residential facility under its Clementine brand. It presently operates 6 community residences for individuals with eating disorders in New York, including a nearby facility for adults that was also represented by Zarin & Steinmetz

This is not the first successful application under the Padavan Law represented by Zarin & Steinmetz. Cross and Z&S have successfully worked on behalf of sponsors to establish licensed community residences throughout the region, including before municipal boards, at State Administrative Hearings, and at the Appellate Court.
